About Rev. Jo V. Ponder

Pastor Jo was appointed to White's Chapel United Methodist in 1997. Pastor Jo attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Ole Miss before receiving her BS, with a double major of biblical studies and business administration at Dallas Baptist University. She received her Master of Divinity. from Brite Divinity School on the campus of Texas Christian University, Ft. Worth.

She was born in Charleston, Missouri, and lived in Southern Illinois and Chicago prior to moving to Colleyville, Texas in 1986. Pastor Jo came to White's Chapel from Richland Hills United Methodist and Bedford United Methodist prior to that appointment. Pastor Jo has served in many areas, retired in 2003, and has continued to be on staff at WCUMC as Associate Pastor Emerita.

Rev. Ponder and her late husband, Charles Lee Ponder, have a daughter, Lori Ann, and a son, Steven Ray Ponder. Lori Ann and her husband Jim Moravec and their children, Jolee Miener, Olivia, and Lawren, live next door to Pastor Jo on the small acreage known as "Spotted Hill" in Southlake. "Spotted Hill" was named because they had a small incline, a Dalmatian dog, a Calico cat, and two Appaloosa horses.....all having spots. Son Steven lives in San Jacinto, California. Pastor Jo is a sports fan: major league baseball, Ole Miss football, college football, and enjoys movies, and Rummikub. She has enjoyed the opportunity to participate in mission trips to Costa Rica the past few years. Pastor Jo enjoys teaching and serving in issues involving the needs of women and children, as well as being with family and friends at her lake house in Possum Kingdom.
